Please translate French: "S'il n'etoit pas plus sorcier que poëte comme il y a apparence, on lui fit une grande injustice en le brûlant"?

    This is an archaic way of writing. The modern literary French version would be "S'il n'était pas plus sorcier que poète comme il y a vraisemblance, on lui fit une grande injustice en le brûlant".

    It means "If he was not more sorcerer than poet as it seems, a great injustice was done to him by burning him"

    This is Early Modern French from the 18th century.

    'If he was apparently neither magician nor poet, he was being done a great injustice by being burned alive.'

    This is my 2nd ever comment on these things. I have nothing to say, except Tangi and Erik are obviously both correct..... they are using SLIGHTLY different words, but the translated it into the same thing. ANSWERED. I came here because I'm currently learning the syntax of JAPANESE.
