Is my boyfriend a bad boyfriend?

Today is my first birthday since we've been together... We are madly in love and talk about out future together. He drinks a ton of soda and I hate soda.. For my birthday he got me a soda maker.. I live alone and he is over a lot. I think he should have gotten me something more thoughtful and romantic. I think he should have listened to me all the times I told him I didn't like soda. He said he thought we could make it together and he thought I didn't like soda cause it's bad for you. I buy a lot of health food, and I bought him natural soda once and didn't have any... Also, this paycheck he sold his quad for 1,100$ and used the money to do things to his car,. He had money left over and bought a used car to take parts from then sell.. I think he should have waited even if the parts he needed from the used car would have cost him more. Am I a *****? I told him how I feel and he wasn't apologetic. He got offended.. Oh! And I have to wait until tomorrow for my birthday dinner when today's my birthday. For the last week I've been pAying for everything to help him be able to buy my gift, but I didn't tell him this.
