Anyone know why pharmacies have generic concerta (methylphenidate) on hand but not the Brand Name?

I have called every pharmacy within 100 miles of my city. Everyone carried methylphenidate but not Concerta. I was told by them(pharmacists) they have to order it and sometimes it doesn't come at all and it has government controlling it. Drove 4.5 hours to get the drug in a different state. Concerta only cost 30.00 with insurance UHC. generic was 367.00...not covered by insurance. Insurance never gave us a heads up... Why does the government control Concerta and not methylphenidate? It's the same thing! Anyone know?

AKA Ritalin. so if you know its the same thing just in a different box, why travel 4hr to find the 'branded' ones..?

would you rather have 0.5mg Xanax. or 2mg alprazolam? its the same thing. 2mg all day!
