Christians........?

Now when I assesed the answer tk the question I asked reagrding the Jews being the Chosen people of God, I see that most STILL believe they are the Chosen and some say they are not due to them disobeying God a countless amount of times.

Now the Muslim stance is the same as the "some" I mentioned and we believe that they WERE the Chosen people of God no doubt BUT they have lost that title because have killed/slandered/abused many Prophets of God and even slander against God.

Now one answerer had quoted a verse from the bible, acknowledging my point of the Jews killing many Prophets and disobeying Gid and so on.

Matthew 23:38 and 2 chronicles 24:18)

My Question is, how are they still the Chosen people of God. How?. Surely God would take that title off them especially as some of the abuse is going towards God.

I find that what people do is assume what "chosen" means. From what people say, it seems they are saying that "chosen" means God chose them all for salvation, That's where they are wrong.

God chose them to do what they did. They carried his word through the centuries, they kept his Sabbath in some ways, they bore through their bloodlines the sons of David to rule over the people. And they bore the prophesied son who would be called Almighty God (Isaiah 9:6 if you are not familiar with that).

Salvation is a different story. Some Jews were predestined (limited in advance), and some were not. Some gentiles were predestined, some were not.

Yes, the Jewish nation rejected their Messiah and this was foretold in their own scriptures. Isaiah the prophet wrote about the child to be born who would be their everlasting ruler, how Galilee would see a light shining but chapter 9 verse 13 adds:

"For all this punishment, the people will still not repent; they will not seek the Lord of Heaven's Armies..." and if you read the rest of that chapter, you will get the picture.

After Jesus' resurrection and shortly after Pentecost that year, the way was opened up for the Gentiles to be reached with the gospel about Jesus. Oh, but the price the Jewish nation paid for their rejection! As Jesus prophesied, Jerusalem and its Temple were reduced to rubble via Rome, killing, capturing and scattering the Jews once more. They have never had a Temple since AD 70. And history testifies to their appalling treatment all over the world since then, culminating in the Holocaust. They have paid a terrible price for their rejection of Christ because God has left them to the cruel mercies of an evil world. Did you know that only about 0.2 per cent of the world’s population is Jewish?

But the way God has dealt with Israel shows His astonishing patience and forgiveness. This gives hope to all of us that He will be patient and forgiving with even the vilest of sinners who repent and turn to Him in faith. It also shows our indebtedness to the people of the covenant - just read Romans chapters 9 to 11 to grasp that. All these scriptures are written for our instruction and guidance so that we will not fall into the same pit of faithlessness. Yet God is the God of deliverance from the pit, as He did with Jeremiah, literally. He places our feet on a rock and establishes His people, no matter what others think of them. He is utterly faithful to His covenant promises and He has promised to redeem Israel, even yet, once the time of their abandonment has run its course.

God’s Word affirms that the Jews are God’s chosen people: “You are a people holy to the Lord your God. The Lord your God has chosen you out of all the peoples on the face of the earth to be his people, his treasured possession” (Deuteronomy 7:6). From eternity past God knew that He would need to be born into the human race in order to save us from the spiritually dead condition that we were in (Ephesians 1—2; Genesis 3). God had planned from the beginning to be born into a very small nation or race of people called the Jews. The Old Testament tells the story of how God set about creating, distinguishing, and preserving that race.

The ultimate goal of God’s choice of the Jews as His chosen people was to produce the Messiah, Jesus Christ, who would be the Savior of the world. Jesus had to come from some nation or people, and God chose Israel. God first promised the Savior/Messiah after Adam and Eve sinned (Genesis 3). Later, God specified that the Messiah would come from the line of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob (Genesis 12). Later still, He narrowed the Messiah’s ancestry to the line of David (2 Samuel 7). Throughout their history, the people of Israel were aware of their “chosen” status before God (see 1 Kings 3:8; 8:53; Psalm 105:43; Isaiah 43:4; 65:9; and Amos 3:2). The fact that God has an eternal future for Israel is evident in that five sixths of the Bible bears directly or indirectly upon them—Jesus being the central figure who brought the Jews and Gentiles together (Ephesians 2:14).

The fact that the Jews are God’s chosen people means that they have been held to a high standard. From those who are given much, much is required (Luke 12:48), or as God said through one prophet, “You only have I chosen of all the families of the earth; therefore I will punish you for all your sins” (Amos 3:2).

Israel’s responsibilities have included keeping and preserving the Law (Joshua 22:5); being “a kingdom of priests and a holy nation” (Exodus 19:6); and bringing “renown and praise and honor” to the Lord (Jeremiah 13:11). Their high calling is straight from the God who chose them out of all the nations of the earth.

Simply by virtue of the fact that we are here, we are all god's chosen people. All religions are made up. If there was even such a thing as god I'm pretty sure s/he has no preference. I mean of all beings in the universe that god supposedly created s/he would prefer a handful of people on this planet. It's just too ridiculous.

    >Chosen people of God no doubt BUT they have lost that title because have killed/slandered/abused many Prophets of God and even slander against God.

You get to decide this do you?

Well I get to decide that you worship a prophet that rapes children and that you condone this. Difference is, mine is real and is documented in your book.

Thoughts? Or maybe excuses born of denial

Following your logic, it seems that the Arabs must be the most accursed of nations seeing as how the vast majority of them, as stated in the Koran, were idolaters who made war against the followers of God.

Those Jews who persecuted prophets were being anti-Jewish. In the Jewish society they were considered wicked men, criminals.

So it is completely ludicrous to determine anything about the Jewish society based on their actions.

Unless you want to be consistant and reject the vast majority of nations that are currently called "Muslim" because of their past history -- and that would in fact have a stronger rationalle since the "anti-God" activities among them WERE normative for their societies.

The basic question is: "Chosen for what"? They were "chosen" to show God and the Savior to the world. The 10 commandments were delivered to man through the Jews. Jesus' lineage was through the Jews. So, they were and still are the "chosen" people for that historic task. Now, if you want to pick another task and choose another person (people) to do it, then they can be your chosen people.

Once Jesus Christ sacrificed Himself for our sins, we all became God's chosen people.
