I feel like I've lost my salvation..I'm so scared please help me!!!! I think God's given up and stopped forgiving me???

For about a year now, I've been struggling with a certain sin. I always seem to go back to it, even after I've repented and tried to turn away. It's gotten so bad that I now try and convince myself that God isn't real just so I can commit that certain sin. It's horrible! I used to feel so guilty after doing that, but now I don't feel anything. I usually pray to God for strength and forgiveness, but I've been truly doubting my salvation ever since I had a strange rapture dream in which all my friends went to Heaven and I stayed behind. In the dream, though, I eventually forced my way into Heaven. I know it sounds terrible and I want to stop this! A verse in the Bible does say that you can lose your salvation if you continue to sin, and I'm so scared. I also feel like I'm only after God because of my fear of Hell. I just found out about the unforgivable sin a few months ago, and I think I've committed it. Almost as soon as I found out that it's unforgivable, I've been cursing the Holy Spirit in my mind. I don't mean it! I never mean any of it! I've been struggling with these thoughts for a very long time, please help me!!!! I think God's stopped forgiving me.

Update:

@M.J The sin, I guess, can be referred to as "lust". You can draw your own conclusions from there.

Update 2:

I don't believe in a Hell full of fiery torture. Hell is merely separation from God - no good is there. I don't want that. I want to be with the Father after I die, but I feel that I am unworthy for Heaven after all of this.

The fear and torment you are experiencing comes from the devil. God is a loving Father and Jesus already took the punishment for ALL your sins. Since you are human there will be more sins, the key thing is that you don't sin intentionally and on purpose. When I see your fear it is clear you are not doing this on purpose.

So you are just being scared by Satan who is trying to get you to doubt your faith. I have been there, I know how it feels.

You just need to let go of all guilt and accept / receive God's forgiveness. These are the main steps you should take:

    1) ACCEPT THAT YOU HAVE BEEN SET FREE

I learned that God really just wants to be close to us, but sin was the obstacle. With Jesus washing all my sin away the door opened for God to live with me: "Jesus replied, “Anyone who loves me will obey my teaching. My Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them.

    John 14:22-24

    2) LEARN HOW TO READ THE BIBLE SO HE CAN TALK TO YOU

I discovered that the Bible was written on purpose in a way that it does not make sense. God intended to reveal the true meaning to only his children (that is why Jesus spoke in parables). So it is essential that you pray before you read the Bible and ask the Holy Spirit to reveal all things to you. The Bible will come alive like a comic book with pictures. At least that happened to me. "But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come". John 16:12-14

    3) SEE YOURSELF AS A SON OF A NEW HEAVENLY FATHER - ADOPT THE NEW IDENTITY

I had to accept that I was an orphan before Jesus washed me clean, but after-wards I went through an adoption process and now I am a son of God. So it does not matter how the world sees you, your new identity comes from how God sees you. Find all the scriptures that say "in christ" and you will discover the new you. "The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to son-ship.[a] And by him we cry, “Abba,[b] Father.” 16 The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children." Romans 8

    4) FEED YOUR SPIRIT REGULARYL IIKE YOU FEED YOUR BODY

In this secular world that is characterized by moral decay and increasing hatred against Christian, it becomes key that you receive the Word daily. The same way your body needs food your spirit needs the Word daily. Suggestion: watch Joyce Meyer on TV daily or download her daily pod-casts - she is probably the best teacher on Christian living I have known.

    5) THIS ONE MADE IT REAL TANGIBLE: PUT ON WORSHIP MUSIC ALL THE TIME AND SING TO HIM CONSTANTLY

All over the Bible I found scriptures stating that we should seek God...with one exception. There is one that states that God seeks those people who worship him in spirit and in truth. I found that a group called Hillsong (highly suggest you buy a couple of DVDs on amazon) and learn to worship and sing to him regularly. Worshiping God draws his tangible presence like the honey draws bees. Whenever I do this for an hour I feel the peace that surpasses understanding flowing in my veins.

I answered nearly the same question from a 15 year old girl recently. I will tell you what I told her because even christians' get it wrong and when God told them they were wrong I was threatened. His bible is not a collection of stories' but a diary (Gods') of many lives' lived on earth. Genesis 1 v 27. God can be male or female. Asa. Elijah. Esther. Hezekiah. Hilkiah. Jeremiah. Jesus. (John 16 v 28. And Jesus said AGAIN I leave the world - you do not say again if you have not been before) Job. Jonah. Kings' Minstrel. Malachi. Micah. Moses. (Deuteronomy 29 v 2 - 6 where Moses said I am your God) Nehemiah. Samson. Samuel. Solomon. Zechariah. Christians' would rather put their interpretation on things' than believe truth, yet they will believe the following which is also true. Abraham Lincoln - John F. Kennedy. A L. elected to congress in 1846. J F K elected to congress in 1946. A L elected president in 1860. J F K elected president in 1960. Both were concerned with civil rights'. A L was succeeded by a Southerner called Andrew Johnson born in 1808. J F K was succeeded by a southerner called Lyndon B Johnson born in 1908. Lincolns' secretary was called Kennedy. Kennedys' secretary was called Lincoln. Finally I have a saying. It is not whether you believe in God that counts', it is whether He believes' in you. God has not hardened their heart towards' you and God came many times' after Jesus. Like all diaries' someone stopped writing. You are willing to learn and have an open heart. This is more acceptable to God than people who refuse to accept his truth.

I'm very sorry you're having that experience. I also had it, for 30 years. The beginning of my salvation was, ironically, a still, small voice in my mind: "Torture is wrong."

A god that would burn you alive for eternity knows nothing about right and wrong, nothing about compassion. Think about that, and read your bible. You'll see that god very differently.

We're here. We don't know how or why. What the bible says about it is always obviously false or just plain ridiculous.

I am very sorry for your fear. I hope you will be able to talk yourself out of it.

as long as you honestly regret what you've done and you cant help yourself from continuing to do it...God's going to keep forgiving you...and God knows whats in your heart.

Maybe its time to wake the **** up. The bible is the greatest enemy of Christianity. Any rational person that reads it, knows its complete and utter bullcrap.

Stop wasting your ONE life believing this crap.

Oh boy! Why do people torment themselves with the irrational fears that their religions have bestowed on them?

    So useless! So silly!

Relax, religions are not to be taken literally, they are just folklore. You have nothing to worry about.

There is no god, or anything else supernatural. Stop worrying and enjoy your life.
