Helmet Replacing?
My helmet is almost a year old and I fell in it earlier the year. It did not come in contact with the ground. I was seung off like an emergency dismount. So I landed on my feet. Later in the year I fell off my gelding when he dropped his head and shoulder. I didn't think I hit my head but I did break my wrist. I say I should just get a new helmet. It's a less expensive brand which I don't mind but I think I should replace it how ever it's I am getting debated with my family. What would you guys do? I vote just replace it it's better than getting hurt because it was damaged. I also heard IRH has a replacement deal

Your choice. If it were me, I wouldn't. Purely because the helmet didn't make contact with the ground.
If it had, I would replace it.
You can't always see the damage - I read an article about a girl who had fallen off and hit her head. Next day she goes riding again, falls off again, hits her head and her helmet split open offering no protection. The helmet had split inside but didn't show any external damage so she thought it was ok. But that 2nd fall broke her helmet right open so it was her head that made contact with the ground rather than the helmet.
But I would say, if you helmet is old (5 years maybe) I would replace it since all protection will deteriorate over time. Best to give your head the best protection you can.

Well I have been bucked\falllen off my horse probably around 20 times-ish and I haven't replaced my helmet. It shows no signs of being wore out\breaking.. Atleast 3-6 times I hit my head HARD .. I would say if the helmet doesn't have cracks in it, its fine, but thats just me.

I would probably replace it, just to be safe. Once, I had an old helmet that had seen it's share of abuse, and I didn't want to spend the extra money on a new one, so I just kept using it. Well one day my horse through a buck and off I went, landing head first :-) the helmet broke in half, and I nearly got a concussion, so sometimes the extra money is worth the extra safety :-)

I personally wouldn't replace it. It never even hit the ground in either incident. However, it's YOUR head (and your money.) If getting a new helmet will make you feel safer, you'll probably BE safer because you'll ride with more confidence.

Replace it. Helmets (even the super-expensive ones) are cheaper than a cranial fracture or a subdural haemotoma.
Sub-what??? Read this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Subdural_hematoma
It's what gets the guy who is knocked unconscious, but wakes up and laughs it off. "Ain't nuthin' wrong with me." Three days later he's dead.

When in doubt replace it. I replace mine every couple years or so. If you notice soft spots or cracking inside the helmet it would be time to get a new one. Your better off being over cautious than under. Less likely to get a bad head injury

A lot of people say you should replace you hat after every fall, after every time you drop it, every knock it takes.
Well then, I would have had about 10 hats in the last year then if I followed that rule with my clumsiness!
It should be fine. The only time you need to replace your hat is if it is cracked inside. You can test this simply by holding it between your palms and squeezing it together and then grabbing the sides and pulling it apart. If it creaks then you need a replacement hat. Simples.
Personally, I am replacing my hat this christmas but only because it was a skull hat I picked up when I was in dire need of one when my old one began to creak - and I want ventilation in my hat so am gonna treat myself haha! My skull hat will remain as a spare and XC ^.^

I don't think you need to replace it as it has not been involved in a crash. But if you are looking for a really great schooling helmet and to save your good helmet for "good", I'd recommend a Tipperary. Superior than any other brand in comfort in my opinion. And, the safety rating is as high as the really expensive ones. These are affordable without being cheap.

I may not be the best person to ask...since my helmet has actual chips missing from where he has knocked me down twice (in 6 years) and dragged me across gravel... It may be time for me to get a new helmet!...LOL
