Why do people listen to the mainstream media and believe most everything they are told?

Have we become a Nation of Dependents? Or are we just to scared to look the truth straight on?

    Thinking is hard. It's easier to simply believe what the pretty people on TV have to say.

    There's over 200 countries on this planet.

    Some (i.e.: Canada) have truth-in-journalism laws prohibiting their news media from broadcasting false or misleading information.

    Given the fact that the internet provides everyone on the planet instant access to global news providers - including those of countries with laws against lying on (or by) their news media - your question makes little rational sense.

    We are a nation of dependents, dependent on entertainment. I think that after a day of work, we just want to drain our brains in front of the boob-tube.

    Which nation?

    In UK, we do have such a lying right-wing press. Now, whenever I see something in either the Daily Mail or Daily Express, I know it to be BS.
