But when they can sell their daughter and get more money for one that can prove their virginity through the results of female genital mutilation, the father feels he won't get the best price if she has dated infidels, gotten a job or wears *westernized* clothes.

Sure, why not I have no problems with that. The thing is probably with your friend is that she is nervous that the guy she is interested in will not like her for her religion or maybe she thinks that he thinks that she would only like members of her religion. I once knew a Muslim man who married a Christian, it didn't work and now he only gets to see his kids every month under supervised visits that are required by the court because he didn't realise his wife would turn into a real you know what.
