    When you signed up for the insurance, you were asked if you wanted the subsidy applied to the monthly payment. Most people said, yes, please.

    When you file the 2014 tax return, you will calculate the amount of credit your are entitled to and then compare it to the amount of subsidy already received. If the credit is more, you get it and yes, it is refundable. If it's less, you will owe the difference back (subject to caps).
