I have never heated canned cranberry sauce in my 50+ years of cooking. I prefer the whole berry cranberry sauce and we usually refrigerate the can for several hours, then just open the can and put it in bowl.

Eat it cold. If you haven't bought it yet, consider buying a package of real cranberries. Extremely easy to make and very good. Something like, boil a cup of water and a cup of sugar. I had a ten-year-old make it last year.

You need to reheated outside the can, if you want to eat it cold then let it cool before serving.
