No sea foam! Drain the float bowls if carburated , put some stabil in the tank. Do not start it once a week. Remove the battery completely and leave it on a float charger like a battery tender in a place that will not go below freezing. Leave it on the center stand so it's full weight isn't on the tires all winter or get a stand for it. Do not cover it with non breathable plastic sheet. A breathable cover can be had cheap or even an old sheet works.

Keep the tank full - no room for water vapor to enter the tank and rust the inside.
Add "stabil" to the gas in the tank - to prevent the gas from breaking down.
Run the engine with the petcock open - allows stabilized gas to enter the carburetors and coat the jets.
Close the petcock - in case the carbs leak.
Drain the carbs. - plastic floats don't last forever. Keeping them dry prolongs their use.
Do not run the engine while in storage - the amount of amperage drained from the battery during the starting process will never be replenished from just letting the engine idle.

Seafoam makes a gas stabilizer. I use Seafoam for carb cleaning and Stabil for stabilization for winter.

Do not use Sea-Foam. Wrong thing. Stabil is what you are looking for. I just drain the float bowls and detach the fuel line.

Sea foam is great stuff I use it every winter or when I go out of town. Starts are up everytime

It's better for the bike to not start it repeatedly.
I fill the tank with premium in the fall, plug in the charger, and any of my EFI bikes fire up immediately.
With a carbed bike, I drain the float bowls too.
