I have an 02 Chevy Blazer, the fuel indicator is not working properly?

A few guys that are into cars said its probably the sending unit in the tank itself not in the cluster. Is there really any way to tell or is it hit and miss?

Either it's one or the other. The other-half's '05 Envoy has the Cluster problem on several gauges, The Speedometer says that you are doing 80mph when it's in park. The Fuel Gauge is always showing empty. There are little electronic motors on the back of each gauge that are called Stepper Motors. A set of them can cost as little as $25 on ebay. The expensive part is removing the Cluster and having these motors soldered on.

As for the fuel sending unit sensor in the tank; well it's attached to the fuel pump. You have to replace the pump in order to fix the sensor problem.

If you are mechanically inclined or have automotive electronics experience, you can do all of this yourself. Otherwise, you will have to take it into a shop for repair of either. Both can be expensive depending on the shop.

    Good luck.
