It means that from the time UPS has it in their hands, it will be delivered to you by the second business day after that.
So if UPS receives the package from the company your BF order from on Wednesday, you will have the package on Friday (Thursday is the first business day, Friday the second).
Holidays are not counted, and this Thursday is a holiday, so that pushes the delivery to Monday (since Saturday and Sunday are not business days).
The "Air" simply means that UPS will probably put it on an airplane, but if the shipping location is close enough to you they may just put it on a truck if it can get to you by the delivery commitment.
Keep in mind that they are not responsible for delays caused by weather, and that is common this time of year. During the winter months I have had ground shipments arrive faster than air because UPS's air hub was snowed/iced in and planes could not takeoff/land but the trucks kept chugging along. If there is a weather delay, they will not refund any extra charges paid for expedited delivery.
