Is there such a thing as a Free reverse phone number lookup web site that actually is Free?

I have tried ,many supposedly Free sites only to find out that sure you can search for free, but you are not going to be allowed to see the results until you pay them. It should be illegal to advertise that something is free then always require a charge for the results. I keep getting calls from phone numbers I don;t know. They never leave a message but call again in a few days. I want to find out who is calling.

Update:

I used to do searches and had no problem getting what I was looking for with no charge. I'll bet someone out there knows a site that is actually Free. There are hundreds of supposed free sites but they are not free. I can't believe that there are not still one or two free sites.

Update 2:

@OzoneGuy, I never ever call a number back that I don't know. To do so only confirms that someone actually is at that number.

I have searched for that for years, I have not found any to be free. I have never paid for the service. But I know a couple who have and they were happy with the results.

Get a No Cost Phone Number Scan at FREEPEOPLESCAN.COM Its a good way to start. The place lets you to do a no cost phone scan simply to find out if any telephone data is there. This basic alalysis is done without cost. For a full detailed report its a modest payment. Here's Reverse / Whose Number Lookup page. If you're talking about cell phones, you usually have to pay for that. I've had pretty good luck just using Google a phone number to find out who's calling. If you are researching a quantity of numbers, though, I suppose, you might want a service. I can't imagine why the average person would need to research a quantity of numbers, though, so I assume this is business-related, and it then seems only fair that you pay for a service. But maybe it's not.

No, someone decided they could charge for that, so all such results are diverted to paid sites.

Assume it is someone that does not know you, does not know that you put yourself on the do not call list, and thinks nothing of wasting your time and money on a call.

What I have found is that it is a robo call, it hangs up if you answer, and if you call the number back (see they are no longer calling you, you are calling them), they make their sales pitch then.

There are none. No one can afford the service without some type of charge. I guess placing ads does not pay enough.
