This time of year I am asked for so many contributions to charity?

One of my friends is asking for shampoo, soap, etc to make hygiene bags for the homeless, someone else needs food for needy families, another person needs toys for children, and another needs baby items for young parents. They are all very worthy causes, but we just can't support every charity in need, How can I say no without feeling guilty?

This time of year is really difficult because so many organizations ask for additional help. You're right - it's impossible to help out every charity. You could consider donating your volunteer time to help out putting together packages like the hygiene bags or Christmas hampers. Let people know you only have so many resources, including time and money. Otherwise, you basically need to consciously choose to not feel guilty - remind yourself that you can only do so much and let yourself feel good about what you *are* able to do. Remind yourself that no one - not even the richest people in the world can contribute to every charity.

Oh you, too. Somehow I got on every nutcase charity and i now have enough return address stickers to last through my life, my grandchildren's life,....etc. Frustrating. For me, it's easy, it goes int the trash. If I were you, I'd pick one charity that you prefer to give to, and tell the others, I;m sorry, My Christmas charitable giving has already been made to a wonderful charity.
