I am receiving emails from a contact in Russia which I think may be a 'scammer'. Is there a way I can trace where the email originates ?.?

All an IP lookup will show is where their isp's server is located which could be miles from their location. And if they are using yahoo an IP lookup will always trace to yahoo's server in Sunnyvale. That's why scammers love using yahoo
Anyone you meet online who either asks for money or wants to send you money is a scam. There are NO exceptions
