whats another name for Scotland apart from Scotia?

    The old Latin name was Caledonia. In Gaelic it is known as Alba (a name which does now get used quite a bit) - which gave Albany and Albania in the Middle Ages. Scotia was originally the Latin name for Ireland.

    The earliest, and more historically established name of Scotland, is "Alba"

    and, it appears that the good folks in Scotland happen to think so too!
