What is with Yahoo now limiting how many letters I can use when I ask a question?

I suspect that yahoo wants to chaperon the kinds of discussions that can take place. It feels to me as though this service is being intentionally low-balled toward a kind of everyman, tweens usage. This happens every time someone takes over management of a product and tries to make it more "user friendly" i.e. a more restrictive, less elegant, slicker-looking package. Their target audience probably only wants to ask questions like; "Do you think Taylor Swift is hot?" or "Is metal really dead", basically an extension of the whole social media thing. The designers of yahho weren't really thinking in terms of the very specific technical questions I like to ask. My kind of question usually has a lot of setup, conditional statements, and background information, before I can even get to the real question. I feel as though an interrupted question draws in the reader, perhaps a full speed ahead, damn the torpedoes approach, and example of which is below:

HVAC/Refrigeration: Is it possible to WEAKEN a refrigerator by slugging the compressor, OR would a slugged compressor either be compl?

etely destroyed or unscathed? During a thunderstorm last week, the electricity cycled on and off pretty rapidly.... etc.

And I Reeeeeeeeallllly hate that they tack and questionmark onto the end of whatever is entered in the title box. I mean we probably already know that it is a question if indeed it is. Often all that 140 characters is good for is a title, look at the kinds of titles in peer reviewed psychology, anthropology, & primatology journals. 140 characters is a tweet, and a tweet is what used to be called a SOUND BYTE! (for this reason I have had no desire to join twitter) The sheer pace of the infotainment world wants to push us all toward five-syllable witticisms.
Oh, and if you totally run out of space for your very specific question, you can elaborate by being the first person to answer the question, because there is a lot of space in the questions, that is of course, unless you are beaten out by some kid on the other side of the planet who skims your question and immediately types in: "Naw dude! I think ur screwed!" before you even have a chance to elaborate inside the first question box, in which case your elaboration on your initial question will show up as the second (or third) answer. You should organize your question and its details in notepad before you try to post anything at all complex. (You may have noticed that I am not concise, but my verbosity comes from my belief that language itself is a form of lossy compression)

Some people write novels when asking questions or giving answers.
They seldom get read anyway so Yahoo limits them.

There has always been a limit,if you need to type more after typing the headline. You can click details and expand,to add more after the question post you can click the pencil and add more details.

Yahoo has always done that. They did lower the number because they know nobody reads novels. You get 140 in the title block (What's up?) and 2500 when you click "details" (desktop - 1500 mobile).

Now limiting? It has always been that way. Seems to be more you not seeing the "details" link next to submit which will allow you another 2500 characters.
Here, use this link to make it easier to understand. /question/ask?act=ev

They're trying to cut down on the pointless rants that have become a big problem over the past year.
