What can I reply to the question, "Is all your shopping done yet"?

I answered that question with a simple, "I don't shop," which naturally led to, "why?" I said because I'm a Jew. She said, "but don't you worship Jesus????" And then told me they had someone at church teaching them Judaism. "Maybe she's a Jewish Christian," she says!

It's much too depressing to get involved with people who are ignorant of Judaism. In the future, I'll smile and say yes.

But I still like to reply to "Merry Christmas" with a very enthusiastic "Happy Hannukah!"

As a Jew I simpl say, "I don't celebrate Christmas."

That normally results in one of two responses:

1. "Oh."

2. "Ohhhhh, that's so sad, I feel sorry for you."

Response 1 gets a "No worries, have a good one."

Response 2 gets a "Don't feel bad for me, I've always pitied you guys for having to go into debt buying presents for your holiday."

Just say politely that you never answer that question.

I would say "Nah I'm not about that shopping and Christmas life, I'm Jewish and Hanukkah is life." I'm not trying to offend, but seriously if I was Jewish I would legit say this.
