dental abcess and swollen lip, good excuse to miss work?
I am a hardlines associate at kmart. That means i do all the heavy lifiting, stocking, and assisting customers with putting big purchases in their cars. I'm really good about showing up to work, but this week has been different. I started experiencing dental pain two days ago at work, but rode it out. The next day, no amount of pain killers or orajel would help, so i called out. I went to the ER and was diagnosed with an infected tooth, and given antibiotics and painkillers to take. I awoke this morning with my top lip twice it's normal size and painful, also with a huge abcess above the tooth cavity. Is this a good excuse to get out of work? I already called out but may go anyway.

I have had infected teeth before and the dental hospital said to me no heavy lifting, especially if you go to a dentist and they give you antibiotics, which you will need, at least a week or two course, heavy lifting is big problem as some antibiotics will wipe you out and make you extremely tired

I would go to a dentist and get the infection taken care of. Also see if you can get a note for your employer if you think you need one.
