Can any one tell me how this works? Like if you have your own horse do you ride it or what?

Typically you are on a team and your coach has a coaches meeting and they draw horses from that division for the rider. And you show the horse given to you for over fences and typically a different one under saddle. You get two jumps before you do your course with the new horse and no practice in the flat class. And no you do not ride your own horse. The host barn handles wverything. You do not get to use your own saddle or anything. You use the equipment with the horse and you literally get on the horse (they handle the horse, if you do anything to the equipment or mount it without the horses handler you will be disqualified). It's meant to show the riders ability with a new mount. But you have to be part of a team or have a coach. And it's based on equation and control of mount. Many different riders will draw your horse and they usually have a small description of the horse but that's it.
