    g (2x - 5) = 2 (2x - 5) + 4 = 4x - 6

    g(x) = 4 + 2*x

    g(2x-5) = 4 + 2*(2x-5) = 4 + 4x - 10 = 4x - 6

    g(2x-5)=4+2(2x-5)

    g(2x-5)=4+4x-5

    g(2x-5)=4x-1

    g(x) = 4+2x

Make the argument 2y-5 instead of 2x-5. That way, you don't confuse the x in the argument with the x in the function.

    g(2y-5) = 4+2(2y-5)

    = 4+4y-10

    = 4y-6

Now replace the y with x.

    g(2x-5) = 4x-6
