What does this Japanese kanji mean?

阿烈士亜

Pronounced as "Aresshia", I'm pretty sure.

It's not a valid word in Japanese, it could be what's called an "ateji" spelling, which means the characters are chosen for their sound, not their meaning. They're four characters that happen to be pronounced A, RE(TSU), SHI, and A. ( don't worry about the disappearing "tsu", that's a Japanese thing. LOL). If you want to know the meanings of the characters, http://jisho.org/kanji/details/%E9%98%BF%E7%83%88%...

too vague to tell which meanings are intended, posssibly none of them.
