What causes weight loss after a huge heartbreak?
My gf broke up with me and as weird as it seems by best friends boyfriend broke up with her, and she's lost 7 pounds in 3 days. I'm starting to notice a difference in my size and I'm never going to get over this heartbreak....were both so sad, and it's hard to talk about it to each other bc were both going through it.... I'm nervous about losing a lot of weight but I can't stop myself from feeling like nothing... This is the worst pain in the world..

People all have different ways of reacting to emotional trauma - some girls I know will sit home for days eating tons of chocolate and ice cream. Personally when I go through traumatic events I loose weight, the worst time I went through this I lost about 30 lbs & I did NOT look healthy. I just was never hungry - but then again I'm one of those people that throws up if I get really upset as well. So I have been there before - kinda feeling like a ghost floating through the days, it is a terrible way to feel.
In good news - you WILL get through this and so will your friend. Try to keep yourselves busy by doing fun things together to be distracted from your sad thoughts. Both of you work on keeping healthy - get outdoors, go biking or hiking - I have always found getting outside and being active cheers me up. In fact healthy exercise has been proven to help with depression!
So keep your chin up! Try to think positive thoughts, but don't feel bad about mourning the loss of your relationship, you have to go through a grieving process in order to heal.
Hugs!

It's been a very long time since I went through that. About 3 years ago, I went through a painful breakup. I lost weight. I blame it on the fact that eating was hard. I had no appetite. I remember having to force myself to eat. It does eventually go away. It is sad, it's hard, but love comes in many ways and forms and is easily found. One day, you'll meet someone wonderful again and all your heart ache will seem but a distant memory.

Distract yourself or find other people that are happy and you will feel naturally happy after. Do anything that makes you happy. Don't worry, you wont lose to much weight. Everything is going to be okay, trust me. Good luck!
