would your family be safe if you all hid underwater during a big storm?

there isnt a big storm coming yet but I know its only a matter of time and lots of insurance companies and stuff say to come up with plans in case of a disaster to keep everyone safe and I was thinking that since there's a lake in our town would it wrk if we all bought scubaing equiptment with that oxygen tank and then dressed warm and went underwater for like 6 hours and sat on the bottom while the storm happened and then come back up again after to replenish the tanks and then go back down again if the storm isnt over yet? i'm not sure what happpens on the bottom of the water during a storm exactly but it seems like it should be safer then up above of the water becuase there wouldn't be any things moving around that could hit you?
