Here's a crossover question, perceiving the edge of the universe expanding ?
So, if we live in a universe that is either real or virtual, if you lived at the edge of the universe and it is constantly expanding, (hypothetically) You could go out into your front yard and look up at the sky and see what?.......Remember, this is a hypothetical question for both "real and virtual universes".....because it seems that nobody can agree on what kind of universe we live in.

There are only 2 possibilities. The universe is either infinite in size, or it's finite. Experiments done with WMAP indicate it's most likely infinite. But OK, lets pretend it's finite. We already know, and have observed, that space curves and bends. This is why gravitational lensing works. If the universe is finite in size then it is unbounded. This is the only possibility. So just like being on the surface of the Earth, no matter where you are in the entire universe it would appear that you are at the "center". So if you look up you will look off into the depths of the universe no differently than if you were at any other point in the universe. There are "edges" in the universe, just like there are no "edges" on the surface of the Earth. There simply can't be, it's a physical impossibility.
(Update) Well, I already addressed that. And despite what you mention in Bulldog's comments, no you didn't set it up as a scenario "here". Case in point, "if you lived at the edge of the universe.........look up at the sky and see what?" The "horizon" of the observable universe is about 46 billion light years away. Someone on a planet that far away from us would still be able to see 46 billion light years in every direction, just like we can. No matter where you are in the universe, whether the universe is finite or infinite in size, you will appear to be at the center. Just like when you're standing on the surface of the Earth. Discounting terrain features the Earth slopes off from you equally in all directions.

I believe that if you took a flashlight and shined it up at the night sky right at the "edge" of the universe, that edge would be expanded by the photons of light coming from your flashlight. You would be expanding the universe beyond its edge just by looking at it. Its impossible to "catch up" to that edge or ever hope to see what is on the other side.
The same logic applies when trying to contemplate "nothing" and how we could never prove that there is such a thing as nothing, because just thinking about it or trying to conceive of it makes it something. It can only remain nothing if it never enters your mind. It not there until you look at it, then you have brought it into existence.

Nice conjecture but remember the question addresses two things, Either we live in a universe that "is expanding" or a universe that "is virtual & is expanding" in either case the suggestion that "it is expanding" suggests that it "has en edge" that "constantly moves".....and therefore is observable from some vantage point. I have put an observer ( YOU) at that place.
