How to talk my parents into getting drums?
Just so you know I'm not some noob. I have 10 years of guitar experience, own 9 guitars, am in a hardcore band and I can play basic beats at my friends house on his set. But I want my own so I can write music easier. I'm 18 too. And I have a job so I can pay for it myself it's a matter of getting them on board with it. I'm a metal kid but I like to play punk drums. And grades aren't an issue, 4.5 overall Gpa over 4 years, accepted into college already. I just want to play drums. Any ideas how to get them on board? No joke I was willing to sell my bed and sleep on the couch. And I would get an e kit or use mutes. Please help

I was in your situation when I was younger. Check kijiji or craigslist in your area for an electric kit. They build up bad habits but as long as you can play an acoustic kit every once in awhile you'll be alright. They are very quiet and you can play along to your MP3 player super easy.
Also, nothing better than playing punk then transitioning into metal. If you can learn to hit the bass drum fast with one foot you'll be set for speed metal, and you'll be a god when you learn double kicks.

If you're thinking of an e kit, I don't even see what their problem would be. Just get it.

Just ask them, duh. Maybe they'll have some type of conditions for you to follow so they'll buy them for you, or maybe they'll be taken aback by your passion and just get them for you. And if they say no, you can do what I did and save your own damn money for your own damn drums.
