Of course, it is not just idolatry in the pagan sense that is to be avoided. Today the worship of sticks and stones has become the worship of stocks and shares. Or look at the idol worship given to pop stars, or sporting heroes. Of consider how millions of people today flock to the temples of Mammon (shopping malls) to pay their dues - all their lives spent in acquiring money, only to offer much of it back to Mammon.

Anything and anyone we place as our priority in life, apart from God, is idolatry. It is not only useless, it is an offense against our Creator and He will hold us accountable. AiH
