Are Crystal Palace really a smaller club than Newcastle?

I say this as a Newcastle fan, when I started supporting Newcastle in 1990 Newcastle were a Division 2 team whereas Crystal Palace were a Division 1 team and FA Cup finalists so in my book that makes Crystal Palace the bigger team.

Man City were 2 divisions below the Premier league about 10 years ago or so, does that make Crystal Palace a bigger club and bigger prospect to manage than Man City?

All this tripe about winning something decades ago making a club big just isn't true.

Look at the size of a stadium, quality of squad and league position within a recent timescale to get the true status of the size of a club.

Yes Crystal Palace is smaller than Newcastle.

Since Palace's solitary cup final appearance, Newcastle have finished 2nd in the league and the FA cup twice, and played in the Champions League. Their ground also hold 24'000 more people.

In 1999 Newcastle made it to the FA Cup final as a PL team and they made it to the UCL in 2003. Newcastle are the bigger team.

Yes they are much smaller, in both fanbase and achievement.
 Stadium, Selhurst Park  is 1/2 the size of St James and in overall points earned (goal points total) Newcastle is #17 CP is #59
 ( LOL on the list of goal points Chelsea is #24)
