Look for entry level jobs leading to what you want.
Prepare a resume with your qualifications including technical school training and hands-on operations classes.
If in the USA, go to a Job Service office. If elsewhere, go to your local job training place. Have someone work on reviewing your resume. Learn how to prepare a cover letter and reuse it. You should be able to use the computer there for free.

You would be better off to go to school for that. Even if you get into an apprenticeship like IUOE the odds are you will pass the school(not everyone does) if you have had other training. That goes with any apprenticeship.
