Why are most rifle bolts not blued too?
Might be a dumb question but I never figured out why. I'm assuming maybe they have different steel or something which is more rust resistant so they don't need to be blued.

Blued parts are great for preventing rust when exposed for air, but not for abrasion resistance. Given that rifle bolts scrub against rounds and the receiver, bluing just isn't suitable for that role.
That's why most bolts are either stainless or parkerized. Parkerized bolts hold up much better to the action of the firearm than bluing does.

Truthfully? Esthetics. People seem to like them that way. I've blued the bolts on a couple of my old Mausers and the finish holds up just fine.

I'd have to double check my notes... but the bolt is usually an alloy that wont take bluing

Why bother? Left in the white, they don't have a problem with rusting. Blued barrels never had a problem either until people started trying to sell stainless steel.

Pointless due to the fact that the bolt is (or should be) the MOST cleaned part of the weapon and the Blueing would be gone in no time!

Because they look better that way.
