How can I turn off the compass in skyrim?
I don't like quest trackers, it kills the immersion because rather than giving me directions they give a gps that could not exist in an environment like skyrim
and I just follow the bread crumbs laid out for me because games today treat you like and idiot that is incapable of finding it on your own without leading you by the nose.
Only problem is that I have it for xbox 360 not pc so how can I remove the compass?

The compass will not show you the current quest unless you have the quest markers turned on. At least, that's the way it works on PS3. I can go to my quest journal and just click on the currently active quest(s) and the quest markers go away (or I can turn them all on). IIRC there should also be a way to turn them all off permanently in the game settings, in the "gameplay" options. See: http://hubpages.com/hub/How-to-Turn-Off-Quest-Mark...
The compass will still show you the landmarks that are nearby, but that's at least a bit realistic, since you would probably be able to see them, hear them, or know about them when within range, anyway.

I don't think its possible. I have it for 360. Not only does point you in the right direction, it also shows you how long you have til you can shout again. I don't think that's something that can be removed.Sorry.
