Politically speaking, why do certain gays hate being gay? Or at least all his problems are rooted in being that way?

Attitudes like that are triggered by how homosexuals are treated by society. A lot of people were raised and brainwashed to be homophobic, bigoted, hateful, and bashful towards people who are gay in the past, so they don't want to deal with it. Especially since they know they can't change their sexuality.

They don't hate being gay enough to stop fooling around with the same sex, so I have no pity for them.

It's just like eating cheesecake three meals a day, and complaining that you're getting fat; you obviously love the cake, more than you hate being fat, right? A disciplined person sacrifices their vices for the glory they desire.

Generally, through being brought up in a homophobic (and usually religious) household.

I agree with Jessica. Its hard dealing with peoples negative attitude toward gays and others alike. And its even harder hiding your true self.

Probably because of all the hatred that homophobes throw at them. When you're young and vulnerable it's not the best time for total strangers to be throwing constant vitriolic hatred at you.
