phone without a plan at all, no cell service. - like an android ipod?

all i want is to have an ipod like device (that runs android, obviously). all i want to do is to text friends (no calling) and play some games. the phone i have in mind is a second hand moto x (unlocked, first generation). i understand that there will be a 'no sim card' warning that comes with having no sim card in the phone, but how easy is that to dismiss?

I'm in the same boat. I have an iTouch and I want an Android device to "get the best of both worlds"

if you never plan to use a... um, plan on it, try finding a bad ESN phone which is much cheaper than a normal unlocked phone.

not sure how 'easy that is to dismiss' but idoubt it will give you trouble.

You can purchase a prepaid cell phone. You can get a Net10 LG Optimus Fuel with Android 4.4 from $20 to $50 depending on where you purchase the phone and if it is on sale.

Easy. Just buy some phone from att or verizon or ebay and don't call any carrier to connect it
