HS relationship problems?

Okay, so I found out my crush likes me back. My friend had texted him and told him I liked him and he said he liked me to but, he's too shy to do anything about it. Last week at school he completely ignored me. Whenever he would see me coming he'd turn around or sometimes I'd catch him staring at me in class and then when he'd see I caught him he's turn away real quick. It's obvious he's shy. But I really wanna go With him. I've been single for a whileand it's pretty boring. What should I do? Confront him? Ask him out? Ask him why he's shy? I'm a pretty straight forward person and not really shy.
