    The formula to use is ∆T = imK

    i = van't Hoff factor which is 2 for NaCl since it goes to Na+ and Cl- (2 ions) and is 1 for sucrose (unionized)

    m = molality = moles solute/kg solvent

    K = freezing or boiling constant

    Boiling point for 2 m NaCl: ∆T = (2)(2)(0.512) = 2.05 degrees. So boiling point = 100+2.05 = 102.5 deg C

    Freezing point for 3 m sugar: ∆T = (1)(3)(1.86) = 5.6 degrees. So freezing point = 0-5.6 = -5.6 deg C
