Yield or merge when entering the flow of traffic on a interstate or turnpike?

My thought is that there is a difference in what you do as a driver when you are merging with other traffic and when you are yielding to other traffic. This also seems to be the case in the minds of other drivers by the way they act on acceleration ramps when entering on to turn pikes or interstates. What do you think? Or what is/ are the law(s) in your area?

I'm not easily upset by what idiot drivers do but stopping at end of the ramp really aggravates me.

There is a yield (or sometimes a stop) sign at the end of every ramp. You're still supposed to yield. If you can't safely merge in, you are supposed to stop on the ramp. You don't just cut in, or merge and slow down traffic or drive on the shoulder. You approach the end of the ramp with caution. If it's clear, then you accelerate and merge over.

So, really someone stopping on the ramp shouldn't aggravate you. They are doing what they're supposed to. You don't just drive down the ramp and merge over.

    It's kinda both

Technically you are to accelerate to speed of traffic and merge into it.

And technically they are to if the flow of traffic and timing allow, to change lanes to let you you onto the highway and then settle back into their place. Many do not abide nor practice commuter etiquette and will just let that ride beside linger while you freak out and get mad!!!!

So you have then yeild (enter with cation, as if you don't have right of way)

There are several lanes for a reason.

Farthest one for long distancerrs an speeders...

Next to it for those sticking to the speed and ignoring their surroundings caught up in their own lil world.

The next is for lane changig to get on and off short distances inconsistent speeds and allow oncomers to safely merge at speed

Then you get crazy highways that split off in three directions between barely enough specific lanes.

And to just survive with out panic and getting lost will do.

Hate Dallas Houston and Orlando !
