Sallie Mae and International Loans?

If I attended a university for a year and a half and have taken loans through Sallie Mae, but wish to go to school in another country would I be forced to pay off my loans or because I'm technically still in school would I not need to pay it. I wish to go to another country not to study abroad, but as an International student.

I think it depends on whether the school is accepted as a school by SLMA definitions. I know study abroaders have everything go through an American school so they are still considering attending school at least half-time. I'm not sure if you just moved and went to a foreign school if you would be able to put them on hold because the school doesn't qualify as a "Title 1" school. Definitely call Sallie Mae before you do anything else.

You would HAVE to ask Sally Mae what their position is and if they will let you keep the loan running. Lots of the time these things are decided on a Case-by-case basis, so no one here can answer that.
