i know I takes was, but if you use if statement then it should take were, so it should be :

if i weren't here.....

    I believe either one would be correct. The word wasn't is short for

    was not." If I WAS NOT here, he'd tear out your throat." Jon said.

    The word weren't is short for WERE NOT.

    "If I were not here, he'd tear out your throat." Jon said.

    It's correct.

    "If I were not here ..." or "If I weren't here" is correct in formal style, but Jon isn't speaking formally.
