    You take everything over the other side and it does the opposite till m is on it's own on one side so ;

    -2n + 9m = -9

    Move to -2n over and it turns to +2n so

    9m = -9 + 2n Or 9m = 2n - 9

    The 9 is now multiplying the m on one side so on the other side it will do the opposite and divide the whole of the right hand side.

    So...

    m = (2n -9) /9

    The nine is multiplying the whole of the left side (9 x m) so it needs to divide the whole of the left side when it moves over, that's why the brackets are included in the third function.

    Best wishes!

    This algebra question will require additional information if you want to get a specific value for m, but from what is here, the value of m, will be in terms of n. So, what you do, is just to make m the subject of formula. That is 9m=-9+2n, therefore, m=(-9+2n)/9.... that should be it.

    Same methods as simple arithmetic, Tiara.......(It's always good to leave spaces so you don't miss any signs!)

    -2n + 9m = -9.....add 2n to both sides

    9m = - 9 + 2n.....divide across by 9

    m = -1 + 2n/9, which can also be written m = (2/9)n - 1

    -2m + 9m = -9 for m:

    combine like terms:

    7m = -9

    divide both sides by 7:

    m = -9/7

    Are you learning how to do this, or are we taking the test for you, which will only screw you up when they discover you don't know the math that the test showed that you knew. This is the second question of this kind that you asked, that was almost exactly the same. If you had learned from the answers of the first one, you wouldn't have to be asking this one.
