Your question is like asking: Suggestion on Ford automobiles.?

Some will say the F-150 pickup - the best selling automobile in the world. Others will say the Mustang Super Cobra with it's 700+ HP. Some will say the Focus.

As you can see it depends on what you want to do, your budget and personal preferences. If you need a Ford Focus kind of Nikon then go with one of their Coolpix cameras. If you want a F-150, then go with one of the APS-C DSLRs that can pretty much do anything, go anywhere. But, if you want a 700HP bad-a$$ 'Stang, then go with the D810 or D4S.

Just realize you're paying a bit more for the Nikon name - the joke is that it's about $20 per letter. So don't get fixated on just Nikon unless you have a compelling reason to only consider the one brand.

Unless you're looking at DSLRs (if you don't know what that means, you won't be) Nikon will only charge you more money for less camera. Even the truly stupid can look at Canon as well (much the same), and the intelligent compare both with the competition and often decide they're wasting their time with either.

If you're looking for a cheap camera, just avoid Kodak, BenQ, GE, Vivitar and Samsung.

Absolutely. The D3x is an absolutely fantastic camera. In the right hands, this camera is unbeatable.

If you know only one brand name, you are not ready to purchase a camera.
