why do news reports assume that the cover of charlie hebdo s hows a representatiion of mohammed? his name is not there

    I have asked myself exactly the same question.

    It could be anybody wearing a turban, shedding a tear and carrying a placard, and it is not satirical so should not be offending the sensibilities of anyone, but in the circumstances the inference is that it is a cartoon of the prophet and a gesture of defiance against the Muslim extremists .
