Why does my hearing change with rapid eye movements?

In my past, I worked around B-52's and their 8 each J57 engines. So yeah; up front I have hearing loss and constant "ssssssssssssss" in my ears at quiet moments.

Lately I've begun to notice something odd: when Its quiet and the "sssss" is prominant and noticeable... rapid eye movements (far left to far right) Cause momentary hearing changes.

So, to text it out, It is like "ssssssssWssssssWsssssWssWsssss" where the Ws are momentary cutouts of the hiss as my eyes are flexed to one side or the other.

Ive noticed its not just the hiss that gets "messed with", but other white noises in a quiet room do it too: the sound of a fan across the room will go "MMMMmMMMMmMMMmMMmMM" As I flex my eyes around too. With the fan its like a very momentary deafness.. or "missing" the sense of sound somehow.

Is this normal? odd? A known thing? It came to light after using good noise cancelling gamer headphones. In quiet moments its utterly quiet, and my looking around the screen caused noticeable hearing sensations. Now that I am aware of it, I can tell its happening all the time.

If there is normal noise like a TV, I cant notice it. So its not affecting my hearing directly.. more like affecting my "sense of silence".

Is it like this for everyone? And I only just now came to notice it?
