Have any other INTELLIGENT, Long time Members of Yahoo, noticed how negative & insulting Y/A has become? WHY?

As far as I recall - I've been here since 2008 (counting a previous account I got locked out of during a BT/Yahoo scism) - in the political/religious catgeories it has always been just just as negative and insulting.

In some areas, it's much better; as Yahzmin says, spam is generally down. In others, I think it has worsened (as far as I understand it, Y!A has dismantled the infrastructure that used to be pretty good at summarily suspending habitual trolls).

The anonymous option hasn't helped, or the increasing trend toward private accounts; both of those, particularly the anonymity, are making a lot of users feel more free to post hostile stuff.

It comes in streaks. I have already had men say very sexually abusive things to me. I only report in extreme cases and reported that. It remained up, even though a couple of friends reported it to.

Meanwhile I got reported for asking "Have you read the Bible today?" and "Have you done a good deed today" and they were removed a couple minutes later. I tried to appeal and the appeal board wouldn't show up, or the Yahoo board ignored my appeals.

I have had pornographic pictures of penises show up on this site and reported them. They stayed for a full week.

I am being cyber stalked by one person on here lately, maybe aided by a friend or two. I tried to get help from YA and they haven't responded to my emails.

Recently one person came to my question and said that I had an overbite and tore into me.

I've been on the site for a long, long time. It really isn't any worse - or better - than before. They trashed every president and politician since day one. R&S has been a massive war zone since the beginning as well.

In some respects, the site has actually improved a bit. Spam seems to be down, and graphic pornography, although it still appears, doesn't stay around long and is WAY down. Back in the day, it was all OVER the site, including as avatars, and before community moderation, it hung around for days or even weeks.

Hi, commenting from a new account, but I agree, people tend to push the line on certain subjects-resulting in silly behavior; the fact that it's in the internet makes it that much more vulnerable to such behavior.

In my experience, YA has been helpful when it's truly needed!

Yes,there is a particular user in the Travel Australia section who insults our prime minister every day without reason.No-one ever goes there to report him.What is it with reporters? Is this the only category they concentrate on?
