Here's an Alfredo recipe.

Personally, I can hardly stand their mushroom version even though I like mushrooms. I would use either the cream of chicken or cream of onion as a base, then add other mushrooms myself.
If I was going to add fresh broccoli in the dish, or make a soup, then I would consider the cream of broccoli.
One of my significant steps in my cooking was to realize that I can make most any sauce and have it come out tasting better than what Campbell sells. This also usually saves money.
The most basic Alfredo is some cream brought to a rolling boil (bubbles barely breaking the surface and the bottom stirred often), butter, and garlic. Add some finely chopped fresh basil. When the flavors are incorporated, stir and toss into the cooked pasta.
Here is my dairy free version with variations...
Simple white sauce: 2 tbsp olive oil, 2 tbsp flour or corn starch, 1 cup water, 1/2 cup parmesan cheese, 1 tbsp. dry basil, 1 cup unsweetened non-dairy milk (optional). Simmer flour, basil, and liquids until they thicken, stirring every few minutes, then add cheese. I've also done mine with only water (2 cups), no milk. Cornstarch may also be used to thicken. Flour and cornstarch need to be dissolved in cold water before adding, do this when it does not thicken enough.
A couple other red sauces...
Rick's marinara sauce: 1can tomato sauce, 1Tbsp dry oregano, 1Tbsp dry basil, 1/2 cup diced onion, 1 diced garlic clove or 1tsp garlic or 1 clove minced garlic. Simmer 30 minutes. Optional: rosemary, thyme, bay leaves, sliced olives. These other spices can be added to the white sauce too. Fresh basil is amazing, along with fresh garlic after cooking. More heat: black pepper, pepper of choice, pinch of red pepper flakes
Healthier-raw-warm/cold red sauce: dice 7 medium tomatoes (remove seeds for less bitter) & 1 med sweet white onion, mince 1-4 raw garlic cloves, bruise and finely chop 1/2 cup fresh herb (basil, oregano, Italian parsley). More sweet, dice a red bell pepper. More zip, zest and juice 1/2 lemon--becomes alkaline 20 minutes after eating. More spice: fresh ground black pepper, mince a jalapeno. More calories: 1/2 an avocado, or 1/4 cup powdered-blended raw almonds. Optional 1/2 tsp seasalt. Zucchini and summer squash can be julienned for the noodles. Tomatoes become acidic the more they are cooked. Garlic and onion powder are acidic.
Enjoy!

How to make Cream of Chicken Soup - Easy Cooking!
- ?Lv 66 years ago
It would be with the cream of mushroom. Then you add in 1/4 cup milk and 1/4 cup butter or margarine. If your milk is not whole or condensed I suggest using powder so you can thicken it up to make it creamier.

use the cream of ??? soup you like or have. Add half a can of milk, half n half, or cream to it and heat it up, gently!
I sometimes toss in a beef bullion cube with cream of mushroom, my favorite, and a bit of Kitchen Bouquet for a brown sauce

Use whatever you like. Cream or mushroom, chicken. celery whatever. Dump it straight onto the pasta, don't add water or milk.
Oh yeah, just in case.....cook the pasta first!

YUCK!!! Use cream cheese thinned with a bit of milk, add some frozen veggies, and season to taste. MUCH better.

Depends on what flavor you are shooting for. Just add a little milk and heat.
You can also use tomato.
