My boyfriend always farts in front of me and I don't like it!?

We live together for over a year now and he fart all the time. In the beginning, it was not too often and then I did not say anything. Later on, he started farting when we were alone in the elevator many many times. Once we went for dinner and when we stepped into my car, as soon as we close the door he farted. And it smell terrible. One time, I was brushing my teeth, he came in, farted and walked out then close the door. Many times I woke up during the night because the smell of his fart. And when I told him that it annoyed me, he get very very upset. He said that it is not like he could control it; But it does look to me as he could. I found it disgusting. I love him but I don't think it means that I have to love his smelly gas. Plus it's a hugh turn off. Please tell me, what should I do.
