I need some advice about a rental agreement?
I am in need of some legal advice regarding a home that I rent. Please only reply if you have reasonable knowledge of this situation.
I have lived in a double wide for a year and a half now. Our landlord also was our Boss until recently. She owns a vacation rental business so my husband and I cleaned and managed the homes. Well, we recently quit because of being taken advantage of.
Well, we've had issues at our home for 6 months now including mold growing on ceilings, caved bathroom floor, moldy carpet, double wide separating and a leak in our kitchen sink. For six months she has been promising to fix these issues and she still hasn't. Well when we quit she emailed and told me that she suggest we move because she is not sure if she can repair the mold. We are paid up on rent until Feb 1st.
We stayed and dealt with the issues in hopes that they would be repaired due to her promises. Well they still are not and we would like to know where we stand. Do we continue paying rent or hold our rent payment until it gets fixed and if she is refusing to fix them what do I do?
What legal steps do I take and will a judge see this as wrong? I have all emails over the 6 month period of her promising to fix these issues.
Thank you

I think you have good legal grounds here. If she's no longer your boss she can't hold you job over your head. But be prepared for a rent hike if you take her to court. I used to own a duplex and I had these issues as well.
