Jaw injury or arthritis?

So about 2 weeks ago, I took a bite out of really hard beef jerky...then suddenly a bone snap inside my jaw, kinda like cracking your knuckles. It hurt really bad when I bit down again so I stopped. The next day eating was just so unbearable, I couldn't open my jaw passed 1 inch.

Right now it doesn't hurt as bad but it's way more tolerable than it first was.

Is this jaw arthritis or did I fracture a bone inside my jaw or what? If anyone knows or has a slight idea...please give me some details.

Pretty sure a bone didn't snap and it's not arthritis as that's too sudden of an onset and it would progressively get worse slower. (Unless there was an earlier injury to that area). Sounds more like you torn something and it's inflamed. Take some Advil for inflammation and pain and if that doesn't work then schedule an appointment with your doctor.

Edit: Since it's been so long (sorry i skipped the 2 week part) I'd probably schedule an appointment either way.
