If I'm claiming my son as a dependent, would my earned income credit increase with me being a full time student as opposed if I was not?

    No.

The amount of the Earned Income Credit is not affected by whether or not you are a full time student.

Its possible in some, very specific situations that your student status would affect whether or not your parents can claim you as a dependent. If your parents can claim you as a dependent then you would not qualify for the EIC (and you would not be allowed to claim your child as a dependent). But this would only matter if you are under 24 years old and living with your parents.

If you're a full time student and not dependent under your parents there might be other tax benefits available to you.

If you didn't have earned income, you get no EiC. If you did work so you have earned income, being a full time student doesn't affect it.

being a student has nothing to do with the EIC it is based primarily on your earned income, without any there is no EIC for you regardless of your child

    No.

EIC is calculated only on your income.
