How do I get my HP All-In-One to recognize my wireless mouse?

My computer was using a USB port mouse. I accepted software updates and the mouse went down. I tried the wireless mouse on my laptop and it works instantly. I do not know how to get my desktop computer to recognize the device driver for the mouse. I could not find the mouse listed on the device list on the computer.

Update:

I deleted my mouse drivers to try to correct the problem. Now, I have no mouse drivers. I tried to obtain updates and download new drivers. Nothing. The updates yesterday caused my cursor to disappear and wireless mouse to be inoperative. I did unplug and reboot, but my device was never detected. My touchscreen still works, not my wireless mouse.

Update 2:

I resolved the problem by going to a restore point of the Operating System from two days ago, before software updates corrupted the wireless mouse driver.

    Plug and pray.

Unplug it, turn everything off, reboot, it should detect the device.

Go in to computer/devices and configure.

Microsoft updates keep messing things up here, I always have to get into the guts of the laptop and reconfigure to maintain status quo.. Tweaking is required since microsoft updates keep changing configurations. bummer.

Computers for the masses are not ready fo prime time yet.

    EDITORIAL:

Why, in the 21st century do we have to put up with this nonsense? In 1968 Star Trek Capt Kirk had voice command and the computer never had to be rebooted. Why don't we have that now? Shouldn't computers know how to run themselves? Why do we humans have to manage them?

    Darn!
